The food industry has trained us to ask the easy question — where does my food come from? But few people are asking the more important one: why?
We’ve only ever been handed the first page of a much longer book. The stories, the craft, the passion, the hardships — all the things suppliers are dying to share but have never had a platform to tell.
After moving to Kingston from the GTA, I found myself surrounded by incredible food — backyard BBQs with friends, vibrant restaurants downtown, a thriving local scene. And yet, something was missing. I couldn’t quite name it. Was it the stories? The atmosphere? The way it all comes together around a table?
So I created it.

The Scratch Supper Club is an intimate, ticketed dining experience hosted twice a month at The Secret Garden Inn in downtown Kingston, Ontario. Each evening brings together 30 guests for a curated multi-course dinner celebrating local producers, artisans, and makers from Kingston and the surrounding region — paired with the stories behind every dish
Unlike a traditional restaurant experience, every Scratch evening is a fully curated, one-of-a-kind event. There is one seating, one menu, one group of guests, and one incredible story to tell. No rushing, no large crowds — just an intentional, unhurried evening designed from scratch with you in mind.
We host two dinners per month, each with its own unique theme, menu, and featured local producer or business. No two evenings are ever the same.
Tickets are available through our events page and are released to Scratch Guest List members first. Join our newsletter for early access before tickets go public — seats fill up fast!
Due to the intimate nature of our events and the preparation involved, all ticket sales are final and non-refundable. However, tickets are transferable — if you can no longer attend, you are welcome to pass your seat along to someone else. Please notify us in advance so we can ensure a smooth check-in.
You are welcome to purchase up to four tickets per booking. If you are interested in bringing a larger group, please reach out to us directly and we will do our best to accommodate.
We encourage smart casual attire — think elevated but comfortable. Come as your best self and ready to enjoy a special evening.
Absolutely. Your safety and enjoyment are our top priority. Please clearly outline any dietary restrictions, allergies, or intolerances at the time of booking and we will do everything we can to accommodate you. As a team with deep expertise in food safety and allergen management, we take this very seriously.
Beverage options vary by event. Details on drink pairings, wine, and non-alcoholic options will always be clearly outlined on the event page at the time of ticket purchase.
The Secret Garden Inn offers on-site parking, and there is also street parking available in the surrounding neighbourhood. Kingston’s downtown core is also easily accessible by foot, taxi, or rideshare.
